New Zealand produces some of the most distinctive and talented designers – we’re really quite spoilt when it comes to both beautiful scenery and beautiful fashion down in this corner of the world. There’s Karen Walker, who I had the pleasure of working with for several years, Ruby and Liam, Kathryn Wilson (our answer to Manolo Blahnik) and a whole host of newcomers who are becoming bigger and better by the season. One of my favourite rising stars right now is the wonderful Amber Whitecliffe, who designed the gorgeous floral dress I’m wearing above. Her rainbow-coloured collections are cute, feminine and ultra versatile. I paired this ‘colour boom’ dress from her A/W ’13 collection with a white mesh top from Liam and a vintage cropped denim jacket from Tango. Having a full time PR job is the best excuse I have for my absolute lack of posting over recent weeks. That combined with a nonexistent outfit photographer and several selfie fails which are anything but blogworthy. Writers block aside, it’s been an eventful month, with our Montblanc boutique opening event and more recently with our in-showroom Moroccanoil styling event.

Last week Moroccanoil’s fabulous LA-based educator, Kevin Hughes, ventured to our southern shores to give us some tips on the art of hairstyling.  Select editors came in for exclusive styling sessions with Kevin, who is a red carpet and fashion week regular. He effortlessly created classic Hollywood curls, voluminous bobs and plaited updos – all styles that I’ve wanted to master for some time. His advice for  maintaining shiny and healthy locks during the winter months? Use  good shampoo and conditioner, Moroccanoil Treatment and a hair mask once a week. I’m already on to my Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask. Happy Sunday! X

A flower-lined stairway lead us to fashion heaven at the Ruby and Liam Spring/Summer preview last week and above are some of the beautiful pieces that were on show. I always look forward to seeing what the super talented Deanna Didovich and Emily Miller-Sharma have designed for the season ahead – they’re collections are always feminine, ultra-wearable and sophisticated, which is exactly what I look for in clothing. The diverse colour palette of rich metallic emeralds, gold splashed blues, pretty pink florals and crisp whites have got me dreaming about balmy summer evenings already- the sartorial possibilities are endless. That’s the thing about the fashion industry – they’re always working so far ahead that just when we’re pulling out our winter coats and scarves, we’re enticed into thinking about our summer wardrobes. Luckily some of the above pieces will be dropping into Ruby boutiques in July – only a mere month and a half away!

I recently attended one of the most beautiful weddings up at Ti Point, slightly north of Auckland. The views were absolutely stunning and the gorgeous vintage-inspired decor made the scene look every bit the fairytale. I wore this layered lace dress by Trelise Cooper, despite reservations about whether it would be appropriate to wear black to a wedding. As it turned out, many others were looking suitably formal in head-to-toe black also. I think as a rule, as long as you’re not showing too much cleavage, leg or you’re dressed in a long white gown topped off with a tiara, you’re not going to offend. I paired the dress with a classic black and gold Dior bag and heels from Mi Piaci.

I’ve been meaning to post these pictures since our trip to Sydney, but it’s been such a hectic few weeks full of hosting events and all sorts of other commitments, I’ve been at absolute capacity. Winding back to holiday time over Easter, I wore this black and gold velvet embroidered dress by BCBG Max Azria out to Icebergs in Bondi – one of the most beautiful spots in Sydney. I love the gold detail in between the black velvet – it’s like wearing an antique tapestry and it’s such an interesting take on the typical LBD. Keeping our intended walk from Bondi to Bronte in mind, I paired it with simple Glassons flats (rather than heels) to avoid catastrophe. I’m thinking this will be the perfect number for our Montblanc event tomorrow evening – a safer environment for my Kathryn Wilson pumps to come out.

There are so many things I love about Sydney – many of which I captured in my Instagrams above. Mathew and I were lucky enough to hop across the Tasman for the Easter weekend, and the city was just as great as remembered – a stunning harbour, beautiful beaches, cool cafes and bars and a shopping scene that I could easily throw every last penny at. Being Easter and all, we really got into the spirit and made the most of the fabulous chocolate boutiques and restaurants around town. Waffles, macaroons and chocolate coated strawberries from David Jones made their way into our daily diets in between large meals and long lunches.

On the local fashion front, I loved the opulent blues, emeralds and cherry-red brights at Scanlan & Theodore and The Corner Shop – some of my favourite shopping spots. Another highlight was Glenmore Road, with Camilla & Marc, Alice McCall, Acne, Zimmerman and almost every renowned Australian designer out – it seems to get bigger and better by the year. I could totally spend another four days gallivanting around the beautiful boutiques, beaches and dining spots, but for now it’s back to reality. Happy Tuesday, everyone! xx

New shoes and champagne has to be the best way to kick off the weekend. Yesterday I got these tan patent flatforms from Kathryn Wilson in Britomart after eyeing them up for a few weeks. I figured they’d be perfect for work, going out and also for a few exciting occasions I have coming up.  I paired them with a pastel pink lace dress and a leather coat. I’ve always loved slim-fitting open coats to wear over dresses, skirts and anything that has a slightly higher hemline. I like to keep things in proportion.  In saying that, my camera-flashed eyes look like I went a little overboard on the Friday flutes.

After impulse-buying this leather skirt on Sunday, I scoured through my wardrobe and many suitcases to find something preppy and bright to balance it. I rediscovered a rainbow of Ralph Lauren polos which I accumulated back in 2003-2004. In my books, they could be just as timeless as jeans, a classic white shirt and a Chanel tweed jacket.

Coffee and Vogue – a spare-time ritual that I’ve had for about 10 years and counting.

Beach walks in the sunshine are the best way to clear your head after a busy week. I miss this beautiful boardwalk outside my old house in Takapuna – it’s great to go back and take a break from congested city life once in a while.

I’m not so big on foodstagrams, but this bruschetta dish from Queenies Lunchroom really is as good as it looks.

I felt a little loud wearing this horizontal striped jumpsuit around Auckland City yesterday, but then again, if I were living anywhere else in the world I wouldn’t second guess it. One thing I’m into right now is wide legged pants (despite the fact that they look best on those who are 6 foot plus and waif thin). I fell in love with this flared one-piece from Ruby with navy sailor stripes and a bronze feature zip. I paired it with a patent American Apparel belt, Kathryn Wilson ankle boots, my Louis Vuitton clutch and Marc Jacobs aviators. Ideal attire for the onslaught of what felt like Winter, and for my Sunday filled with cafe-hopping and art galleries with my mom.

Anthony Turner for Moroccanoil made waves at Paris Fashion Week with androgynous hair looks reminiscent of the artistic east London girl. “I wanted the look to convey a confident attitude and mystery, while the matte texture of the hair played into the collection’s inspiration from India.”

Here’s how you can recreate the look:

- Divide a side part in the hair, and draw a triangle from the side part to the opposite ear, creating a fringe in front. Tuck the fringe back, but allow it to be loose and fall slightly across the forehead.

- Apply Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse to the fringe to create a lived-in texture with natural hold. Blow-dry all of the hair using only fingers for a natural, carefree look.

- Once the fringe has been styled, use Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream on the rest of the hair to add more texture and increase the natural wave of the hair. Separate with fingers to achieve a natural result.

- Finish with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong to ensure that everything stays in place.
