back to reality

Yesterday I kicked back into reality after almost a week spent inside our apartment hacking tonsillitis. It would have a lot more enjoyable if I had of got my hands on Gossip Girl season 5, but instead I spent most of the time staring at the ceiling and aimlessly moving from the bedroom to the kitchen to the office to the couch. So having recovered, courtesy of a strong course of antibiotics, I was pretty excited about the line up I had in place for the day.

It started with breakfast at Rakino’s (the only Auckland nightspot I know of that can actually pull off decent coffee and benedict), followed by morning tea at Britomart Country Club to launch the summer season of Number One Shoes. We each got to choose a pair (I went for some turquoise flatforms – figured they’d be good for shopping in Asia if I feel like giving the Chucks a miss), we had Pimm’s served, and the biggest highlight of all was a live performance by Zowie. She’s a fantastic entertainer (Rolling Stone magazine seems to think so too) and looked very rock star with her World jacket, studded black jeans, and sharp jet black hair.

She selected some of her favourite styles from the Number 1 Shoes summer season.

After a not-so-exciting day back at work, my friend Clare and I headed out to the Stolen Girlfriends Club S/S 2013 show in Grey Lynn. Drinks were flowing and everyone was mingling in the dimly lit SGC warehouse – then the halogen lights came on to start the show and I wished I had applied an extra layer of foundation.

Georgia Fowler, who recently walked for Chanel at Versailles walked first followed by a young set of leather-clad models with backpacks, and a range of shoulder bags. Immediately below is my pick of the bunch. More pics to come soon.
