We spent over a month in Central America last summer, where we spent most of our time crisscrossing the Mexican capital from the Baja Peninsula to Riviera Maya – partially in an effort to chase the sun and avoid a highly unfortunate 30-day thunderstorm forecast. We began in Mexico City and stayed in Polanco – an area that boasts an array of Michelin-starred restaurants, galleries, boutique hotels shops and museums. There are so many places to visit in the vibrant metropolis, so with limited time, we prioritized four key attractions: La Casa Azul (a museum dedicated to Frida Kahlo), Centro Historico, the National Museum of Anthropology and recently opened contemporary art gallery, Museo Jumex. Moving to the West Coast, we visited Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos – both vacation-friendly destinations with gorgeous resorts (including the Hilton Los Cabos and Casa Velas, pictured above), beautiful beaches and incredible cuisine. Aside from pool-hanging with Margaritas in-hand, the best thing we did was hire a jet ski in Cabo San Lucas to cruise around Playa del Amor – home to the unique rock formations the Baja Peninsula is renowned for. The markets in San Jose del Cabo are also worthwhile visiting to gage a true sense of authentic Mexican culture. With a slight detour, we arrived on the East Coast to see the Caribbean in all its azure blue glory. We stayed at NIZUC -an isolated resort located in between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It was the ideal positioning for day trips to Chichen Itza (one of the new seven wonders of the world), Tulum and Grand Cenote – some of the icons of Riviera Maya.P1020237Cabo sunriseZona Romantica Puerto VallartaIMG_1631IMG_1581Puerto Vallarta plates
